Gangtok: The Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Sikkim has announced Shri Shukraraj Subba of Syari, Gangtok, as the recipient of the Bhanu Puraskar 2026 for his outstanding and long-standing contribution to Nepali language and literature.
Instituted in 1956, the Bhanu Puraskar is one of Sikkim’s highest literary honors, presented annually to individuals who have rendered dedicated service to the promotion of Nepali literature. The selection for 2026 was made by the Parishad’s Screening and Study Committee under revised guidelines adopted in 2013.
The award comprises a certificate of appreciation, memento, copper plaque, and a cash prize of Rs. 51,000.
The formal felicitation ceremony will be held on 13 July 2026 in Gangtok, coinciding with the 212th birth anniversary of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya, the pioneer poet of Nepali literature.
Shri Subba’s literary journey has been marked by deep engagement with Nepali prose and cultural thought. The Parishad, in its letter, has requested his formal acceptance along with a bio-data and photograph for the official records.
